In-situ and mobile simulation

What are 'Mobile simulation' and 'In-situ simulation'?
David Gaba describes Mobile Simulation as merely taking a simulation setup to another venue, conducting simulations in either neutral locations or clinical environments.[1] In situ simulation, on the other hand, is simulation in actual clinical environments related to the primary simulator team. The latter is probably much commoner than the former. An important point he makes is that the techniques should be seen as complementary rather than competing.
The initial question which sparked off the discussion related to a 'transport wagon' which contains everything needed to perform a simulation, including facilities for video debriefing. Important points to note are:
- Distractions can be a problem, and finding a safe, private place in a busy hospital may be tricky (Richard Kyle);
- There seem to be no such carts commercially available (David Gaba again);
- Good organisation is more important than a 'single gurney solution', and always remember the duct tape (Michael Seropian);
- The sim wagon needs care and feeding (Richard Kyle);
