Talk:SimMan Familiarisation Checklist
From WickedSim
For NIBP you must refer to the patient monitor NOT the LP12!
Scandalous on the part of Laerdal to 'force' us to use their expensive, brittle monitor!
Actually we used to 'slave' the V2.3 Monitor onto our physiological monitors - it was easy because it was just an image. The V3.2 has become a little more complicated but Laerdal NZ have initiated the making of a cable so that we will still be able to 'slave' the image onto our own monitors, and getting rid of the above statement.
Why not contact Laerdal and tell them you want the same thing!
If enough of us ask and insist on it being done, they will eventually get the message and it will become 'standard'
VGA
What do you mean with "slave"? Did you use the VGA-Output to duplicate the Vitaldata-Monitor? With the 3.x SimMan you use the normal Dual-Head-Configuration of your SimMan-computer. To have an image of the monitor you just have to duplicate the VGA-Signal between SimMan-computer an SimMan-Vitaldata-Monitor.

Terminology Apologies
The VGA output on the computer that is being "sent" to the touch screen monitor can be "split" easily enough with commercially available VGA splitters
I have two centres I play in - in the one I used a very inexpensive split cable to send a signal to an anaesthetic monitor - a little dim, but increasing the brightness and contrast on the monitor and it works fine.
The catch is the Monitor sound is heard from the touch screen monitor - so if you have put a "slave" monitor into the scenario and kept the touch screen one either for yourself or just not even connected - you do need to have a speaker standing reasonably close (they make good gorillas) and plug the monitor sound cable into there (needs a sound to RCA connector - dime a dozen in most electronic shops)
I have been a bit more ambitious in my second centre - I have purchased a power boosted VGA spliter - and am hoping to be able to have the touch screen monitor as well as increasing the number of monitors for the pc we are running him off - this would allow me to have the scenario up on one screen and his controls on another, the touch screen available and a "slave" vital signs monitor as well - the idea of having two vital signs monitors is so that the onlookers can have a good idea of the vital signs as the monitor in the simulation is often obscurred. - Have not actually managed the split screen for the computer programme just yet - but I am sure it is possible :) Makes for more screen real estate.
